One counter, three machines, and a tape that has seen every wedding.

Simran's Boutique sells ladies' suits, dupattas and kurtis, and stitches whatever you bring or choose from our shelves. Three tailors work from the back room, and the same person who cuts your cloth does your trial.

We take measurements once, write them in the book, and keep them for your next order.

A suit from last Teej still fits, says a teacher from Rajpura.

The year, in six seasons

We plan the shelves around the calendar. Each season has its own cloth, its own cuts and its own rush. Tap a season to price it in the estimate.

( 03 ) · the stitching estimate

What will it cost, and when is it ready

Choose the garment, the cloth and the extras. The slip on the right adds up as you go and gives a ready date in Indian time. Prices are what you pay, with no tax added on top.

Measurements
( 04 ) · the measurement guide

Nine measurements, in inches

Use a soft tape over thin clothes, snug but not tight. Fill in what you can; leave the rest for the fitting. Saved measurements stay on this device only and are attached to your estimate.

( 05 ) · fabrics the shop keeps

Seven cloths on the shelf

Priced per metre, 44 inches wide. The estimate uses the same prices and works out how many metres each garment needs.

Bringing your own cloth is just as welcome. A suit needs 5 to 5.5 metres, a kurti 2.5, a lehenga blouse 1. Bring a quarter metre more if the print has to match at the seams. Phulkari dupattas are sold ready-made and are not part of the stitching estimate.

Fitting, trial, alteration

Five stops from cloth to cupboard. Days are working days; the shop is closed on Sundays.

stop 1 · day 0

Choose and measure

Pick the cloth, the cut and the extras. We take your measurements with you standing, write them in the book and give you a slip with the ready date.

stop 2 · first two days

Cutting

The cloth is washed if it needs it, marked with chalk and cut by one tailor. Embroidery and piping are planned before the first stitch.

stop 3 · about the middle

Trial fitting

Come in when the piece is tacked with white thread. You wear it, we pin it, and you say what is too tight, too long or too low. It takes 20 minutes.

stop 4 · one or two days

Alteration and finishing

One round of alteration is free. A second costs ₹150 per garment. Latkans, lace and hooks are sewn on by hand at this stop.

stop 5 · ready date

Pickup

We pay the balance when you collect. Wedding season brings longer queues, so we give a later date then and keep to it.

Normal stitching is 7 working days and express is 3. From 1 November to 15 February it is 12 and 5. Hand embroidery adds 4 days, and more than 4 garments add 2.
